January 13, 2016 @ 9:30 am - 10:30 am EST

Free

In this meeting we are going to cover the requirements of the EPCS process.

New York State Mandatory Electronic Prescribing Effective Date Extended to March 27, 2016
EPCS
You can now use the EPCS (Electronic Prescribing of Controlled Substances) functionality.

The DEA (Drug Enforcement Agency) has made the requirements for prescribing controlled substances very stringent. These steps were not created by McKesson or DxWeb, our e- prescribing vendor. They involve processes known as Identity Proofing and Two-Factor Authentication.Prescribing Controlled Substances in McKesson Practice Choice.

Prescribing Controlled Substances in McKesson Practice Choice

Two-Factor Authentication
Two-Factor Authentication involves two modes of verification at the transaction level. For instance, when you try to electronically transmit a scheduled drug, you will first be prompted to type in a username and password and will then be asked to input a passcode, that expires within a short timeframe, generated and sent to your device or hard token (the token will be described in more detail later). This passcode is the second part of Two-Factor Authentication.
