A new study from healthcare IT research and advisory firm CapSite indicates that 54% of hospitals plan to purchase Medical Device Integration solutions. Â The MDI study from the Burlington, VT-based CapSite represents insight from over 300 hospitals on the market opportunity and vendor market share across the United States.
The research study includes MDI vendors like Cerner, Epic, McKesson, Siemens, and Welch Allyn, among others, and is the latest in a series of reports assessing the impact of the HITECH Act of 2009 on the industry. Â It indicates that the MDI market has been very active over the past two years, with healthcare organizations increasingly investing in connectivity between medical devices and their Electronic Health Records software. Â CapSite also states that they expect to see an acceleration in the rate of adoption of MDI solutions over the coming two years.
