Allscripts announced this week its new collaboration with telehealth provider American Well to facilitate remote patient care with Electronic Health Records system integration. The new solution, expected to be available in January, will integrate American Well’s Online Care platform with Allscripts EHR software.
The new Allscripts telehealth solution will increase patients’ access to convenient and secure care while enabling healthcare providers to save time and money. According to Allscripts CEO Glen Tullman, it will also give physicians an opportunity to get paid for telehealth visits, “something that was a hurdle in the past.”
The University of South Florida (USF) Health plans to be one of the first organizations to take advantage of this new offering in a partnership with over-55 residential community The Villages, located near Tampa, FL. USF Health sees this telehealth platform as a big step toward delivering “tomorrow’s healthcare today” directly to The Villages’ residents’ homes.
