Cloud-Based Medical Office Software & Billing Services › User Forum › Lytec › Scheduling a Backup
Open Lytec from the server and log in to the practice. Go to Tools -> Task Scheduler (or File -> Data Backup/Recovery, depending on your version) and select Schedule Backup.Click the Add button and make sure you've got Backup Database selected, then click Next.Select a location (a folder called Backups inside the Support folder is usually a good idea) and a name for the backup. If you are going to repeat this process for multiple practices, then each backup file should reference the practice name, otherwise you could simply call it DailyBackup.bak or something similar. Click Next. For security purposes, you can password-protect the backup; however, please note that if you lose or don't remember the password, the backup file will be unrecoverable! Select "Replace all previous Backup Information" and click Next, then Next again, then Finish. The Description should be the name of the practice, or Daily Backup if you are only scheduling one practice's backup. The Starting Date should be today's date, and no Ending Date should be entered (unless you only want these scheduled backups to run until a certain date). The time is whenever you want the backup to run; these backups are not affected by users in the system, so you don't necessarily need to schedule them around your office hours. To schedule for daily/nightly backups, select Weekly and then select each day of the week on which you want a backup run, for every one week. You can of course create different schedules as needed.Click OK, then either Add a new practice or schedule, or click the Close button.
