Question from: Garth Aamodt DC
Which codes would a chiropractor use for subluxation. The old codes were 839.01 thru 839.08. Or Medicare required we use the 739.0 through 739.4 codes and Medicare wouldn’t accept the 839 codes. I note in ICD-10 that the 839 series have converted to S13.111A through S13.181A. But the 739 codes have converted to M99.00 through M99.04. My question: which of these codes should a chiropractor use and do we still have to parse out now the new M99.XX series for Medicare? Is the S series or the M series code the correct one for “subluxation” (or now called “dislocation” in the S series and “somatic dysfunction” in the M series?
Dr. Amodt, I am not a coder I am not qualify to answer this question. Said that if I use my external app I recommended on my Medisoft white Paper I will find the following for 839.08 S13.101A or the extended code S13.100A
