The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) has posted the full set of proposed measures that eligible providers, hospitals, and Critical Access Hospitals (CAHs) would need to use to qualify for Medicare and Medicaid Stage 2 Meaningful Use bonus payments beginning in 2014.
Some of these measures have not yet been endorsed by the National Quality Forum and are therefore subject to change, and public comments regarding the measures can be submitted online through the federal regulations Web site. The clinical quality measures would account for one of the Stage 2 required core objectives (17 for providers and 16 for hospitals). Patient safety, effective use of healthcare resources, and patient and family engagement are among the “domains” the measures will cover.
Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems like Allscripts MyWay, Medisoft Clinical, Lytec MD, or McKesson Practice Point can greatly enhance the ability to report these quality measures to CMS. Microwize Technology’s healthcare technology consultants will assist in implementing such a solution and achieving meaningful use.
