Question from Dr. Garth Aamodt
In doing the conversion in Medisoft your system ONLY converted all codes to the 7th alpha character of “A”, meaning “initial encounter”. Yet other than a first time visit, most subsequent visits for the same condition states we should use the “D” character meaning Why did Medisoft ONLY set up their ICD-10 conversion codes for the “initial encounter” codes?
Dr. Aamodt,
Medisoft is using a mapping library I think was made by CMS. it will only app any codes that is available in that library. Extended codes where not included. My recommendations:
1. If you are using EMR the EMR will help you with the coding.
2. You can use external App as I recommended in the Medisoft ICD-10 white paper.
3. Buy Codes On Disk it includes all the codes about 75,000 ICD-10 codes.
4. Buy Encoder Pro.
